Connect Assist wins prestigious green business award

RCT Business AwardsConnect Assist is pleased to announce it has won Environmental Business of the Year at this year’s Rhondda Cynon Taf Business Club Awards.

In a celebration of the best in business within the county borough, we have received official recognition as the most environmentally friendly organisation in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The award win follows our accreditation from the Welsh Government at Level Four of the Green Dragon Environmental Standard, formal recognition of businesses’ commitments to environmental management across Wales.

Marking the eighth year of the annual awards, which this year received an unprecedented amount of applications, we have scooped a gong for the second year running, last year winning RCT Business of the Year and the Innovative Business category.

Our social mission encourages a strong commitment to benefit the local community and the surrounding natural environment. To benefit the local area, our headquarters was deliberately established in Nantgarw, creating around 90 jobs for local talented individuals. Since the company was set up in 2006, 46% of our team were previously unemployed, with a quarter of those long-term unemployed.

Flexible working is also encouraged, as 20% of our workforce have enduring health conditions, and are provided with specialist equipment, enabling them to work from home.

We are incredibly proud to win this award, as being environmentally friendly is at the heart of our social enterprise, and has been enshrined within our social mission since founding the business.

NHS Plus - Health 4 Work Adviceline

Since August 2012 we have delivered the free Health for Work Adviceline which is funded by the Department of Work and Pensions. The service provides small businesses with the expert advice and support they need to help team members experiencing ill health and other occupational health issues. The Health for Work Adviceline had a requirement to cut costs, develop a sustainable funding model whilst delivering a high quality service to those who often feel unable to obtain professional occupational health advice due to the smaller size of their business.
