Defying the economic trend Connect Assist saw record growth in 2010, with revenue up 35% on the previous year.  Since 2009, 21 new jobs were created, increasing overall employee numbers to 44, Connect Assist is one of the highest job creators in Wales beating the average by 2:1.

The Social Enterprise was established by Patrick Nash, the former CEO of a UK charity.  In that role Patrick experience first hand the way in which the introduction of helpline and web services provided vital help and assistance to people across the UK and overseas. Patrick saw the potential to transform how other charities and third sector organisations deliver their services, which lead him to launch Connect Assist five years ago.  Today the contact centre works with some of the UK’s leading charities and not-for-profit organisations including: National Council for Voluntary Organisations, the University and College Union, MDF the Bipolar Organisation and Beatbullying.

Professor Dylan Jones-Evans, creator of the Fast Growth 50 and Director of Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Wales said: “I am delighted that Connect Assist has made this year’s list of the fastest growing firms in Wales, especially as its purpose is to provide effective support, services and technology to organisations striving to deliver a difference in people’s lives. Thanks to its well-motivated highly professional staff and the willingness to work in partnership with organisations to arrive at the best and most cost effective solutions, I expect to see the company go from strength to strength over the next few years”

Patrick Nash comments: “Our inclusion within the Wales Fast Growth 50 is fantastic recognition of the success of our business in the face of a challenging economic environment.  It also shows that our ethical approach (Connect Assist is a Social Enterprise) can pay commercial dividends too.

“Basing our headquarters in the Welsh Valleys has been a huge success. We have really talented and committed staff who are all drawn from the surrounding area. We delighted that as the business has grown we have been able to invest in our local community through job creation, staff training and development.”

Established in 1999, the Wales Fast Growth 50 aims to identify the fifty fastest growing firms in Wales. Now in its fourteenth year, it has become firmly established as one of the main barometers of entrepreneurship in the Welsh economy and the list of business success that companies across Wales aspire to.
